Is this chest normal? When the drugs don’t work
Wednesday 17 July 2019
Willows Referral Service, Highlands Road, Shirley Solihull B90 4NH
0121 712 7070
This evening forum will review the gold standard test for the diagnosis of congestive heart failure; thoracic radiographs. There will be a focus on cardiac and respiratory cases with the opportunity to discuss the main differences between them.
There will be discussions regarding the recommended treatment for a dog and a cat in congestive heart failure. The evening will also include the presentation of cases where the standard treatment was not enough and other alternative options had to be considered. We will discuss these and their implication in the management of the case.
There will be time for discussion and any questions regarding your own cases 'when the drugs didn’t work' will be welcome.
Cardiac and respiratory cases can have similar presentations which makes their diagnosis challenging.
During this CPD we will review the main differences between these two systems based on history and physical examination, which will allow a more confident clinical approach that will lead to a correct identification of the primary problem. We will discuss in detail the several diagnostic tests that can be performed based on your main differential diagnosis. We will then review the clinical management of some of the most common cardiac and respiratory conditions, including stabilisation of the critical patient and sedation/anaesthesia protocols.
