The Team

Our aim at Willows is to provide first class care for our patients and to give an excellent service to their owners and to the vets who refer cases to us. It would not be possible to provide such a service without a team of people who are committed to excellence. We are very fortunate in having just such a team of friendly, dedicated and caring staff who constantly strive to do their best for our patients and to look after them as if they were their own pets.

All our staff are actively encouraged to pursue continuing education in their various fields. They are expected to bring any new ideas and knowledge which they acquire back to the practice to share with their colleagues. In addition, they all attend regular in-house meetings and are engaged in a system of appraisals. In this way we hope continually to improve the levels of care and service which the team at Willows provides for our patients, their owners and the vets who entrust their cases to us.

Willows is a busy practice with over 175 staff, a vast array of equipment and stock items, thousands of clients, over a thousand referring vets who use our services and, in our state-of-the-art premises, up to 100 in-patients to look after at any given time.

Our Management Team has the task of keeping the innumerable component parts of the practice running smoothly, so that our staff can concentrate on achieving our goal of providing a caring, top-quality service for our patients, their owners and the referring vets who send us cases.


Tracey Morley Jewkes


Hospital Director

A Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, Tracey also holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration and is a qualified business coach. Tracey has 25 years experience in leadership and management, spanning the corporate career ladder through to owning her own businesses including management consultancy. Her love of all creatures great and small landed her in the veterinary world, firstly in multi sited veterinary primary care and now in our specialist 24/7 referral centre. Dedicated to delivering world-class veterinary and nursing care with integrity and conscience, Tracey settles for nothing less than excellent standards through the impressive calibre of people she is proud to work with here. She wants every pet to have access to the safe, skilled hands here at Willows which are amongst the best in the world, and, for every client to have the right to choose the best care.

She often writes for media, is a regular presenter on a variety of business management subjects that support better clinical care at national veterinary conferences and has also featured on prime time TV in a documentary for Channel 4’s ‘The Job Interview’. Tracey also sits on the Board for the British Equestrian Trade Association, helping to contribute to the wider success of equestrian businesses.

Outside of work in heels and a suit, Tracey spends most of her down time in wellies and jeans with her beloved Springer Spaniel Ollie, who she gave a happy retirement home to after serving his years as a sniffer dog for Border Force. She believes he is the best dog in the world, she also knows that her colleagues and clients all believe theirs are too, and they are all right! When she is not managing a busy referral centre here at Willows, Tracey also enjoys horses, is a self-confessed closet ‘Sarah Beeny’ renovating properties and is an ambassador for a US science based anti ageing human health company.


Toby Gemmill


Clinical Director
RCVS Specialist in Small Animal Surgery (Orthopaedics)
European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery

Toby graduated from the University of Bristol in 1996. Following a number of years in mixed and small animal practice, he undertook a Residency in Small Animal Surgery at the University of Glasgow. He holds the RCVS Diploma in Small Animal Surgery (Orthopaedics) and the ECVS Diploma in Small Animal Surgery, and was also awarded an MVM for research into canine elbow dysplasia. He has worked as an orthopaedic and spinal surgeon at Willows Referral Service since 2005.

Toby has been an RCVS examiner in Small Animal Surgery and has examined at both Certificate and Diploma levels. He was also a member of the RCVS Small Animal Surgery Board for several years. Toby has authored or co-authored numerous scientific papers and conference abstracts, given presentations around the world on a wide variety of topics relating to small animal orthopaedics and spinal surgery, and has regularly contributed to local CPD meetings. He is the co-editor of the 2nd edition of the BSAVA Manual of Canine and Feline Fracture Repair and Management. Toby has been involved with AOVET for several years and has sat on the AOVET European board and the Education commission. He enjoys all aspects of small animal orthopaedics but has particular interests in joint replacement, management of complex fractures and postgraduate orthopaedic education. He became Clinical Director at Willows in 2016.

Rebecca Tomlinson

Practice Manager

Becky joined the Willows in 2011 as Client Care Manager and was appointed Practice Manager in February 2017.

Becky discovered her love of animals through her two rescue dogs, acknowledging she made every mistake in the book when it comes to being a pet owner! Her first rescue dog (a mongrel) quickly introduced her to what is fondly known as "separation anxiety"! The solution she believed was to introduce another rescue dog for company! Several pairs of curtains, shoes, toilet rolls, phone cables, sofa cushions, skirting boards and an entire sound system later, Becky invested in dog obedience training and has never looked back (although she can on occasion still be seen aquaplaning through the park at high speed attached to the end of a lead!).


Nic Mills

BSc (Hons) RVN

Business Relationship Manager

Nic studied genetics and molecular biology at university and after graduating in 2010 decided to take some time out to decide if a career in genetics was right for him. He then went on to work as a Pet Health Advisor at a local small animal practice and immediately knew that working within the veterinary industry was the right place for him. Since then Nic has gone on to qualify as a Registered Veterinary Nurse and in 2017 made the move into industry where he worked as a territory manager for a global veterinary pharmaceutical company.

Nic understands the importance of building lasting relationships with practices and brings with him the dedication and experience necessary to develop and strengthen the relationships Willows has with its referring practices.

Outside of work Nic has a very noisy 6 year old Siamese called Eli who he hand reared after he was abandoned at his old practice and the pair have been inseparable ever since.


Tom Reilly


Deputy Nurse Manager

After leaving school, Tom started working at his local RSPCA branch, spending four years helping rehabilitate cruelty cases until they were fit to be rehomed. On leaving the RSPCA Tom had his first insight into the veterinary world as an animal care assistant at the PDSA. Having enjoyed working within the veterinary industry Tom joined a local mixed practice as a student veterinary nurse where he qualified in 2010. Tom joined Willows in 2011 as an RVN and was promoted to Deputy Nurse Manager in 2017.

Tom has a broad nursing interest but has a specific passions for medical nursing, emergency medicine, infectious diseases and evidence based practice. Tom gained his veterinary nursing certificate in emergency critical care in 2013 and completed his qualification from the Institute of Leadership and Management in 2014. He is also currently working towards his advanced veterinary nursing diploma.

In 2014 Tom joined his local British Small Animal Veterinary Association regional committee and has organised lectures and courses for veterinary nurses in the local area on an array of topics ever since. Since 2015, Tom has been a member of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association congress committee assisting with the organising of congress and just as importantly the social events.

In 2017 Tom had the privilege of being of being nominated and voted onto the British Veterinary Nursing Association council and looks forward to serving on the council for the next three years.

At home Tom has a rescue dog called Phoebe and two rescue cats, Boris, who was abandoned at his training practice and Dobby, an incredibly badly behaved kitten found in a wheely bin and brought to Willows as a stray. When not at work Tom spends most of his time either on a rugby pitch or planning his next trip away.


Claire Baber


Assistant Nurse Manager (Non-Surgical)

Since leaving school, Claire felt very passionate about making her career one where she could work with animals. She completed two diplomas in animal care at Warwickshire College and this journey opened Claire's eyes to some amazing careers with animals, ranging from opportunities in safari parks to others in farms and pet shops. However, it was towards the end of her college years that Claire discovered her niche, when she helped out in a local veterinary practice. It was at that point she was hooked! To be able to make a difference to these animals' lives and have the chance to develop a career in the veterinary world became her dream.

Claire knew this dream wasn't going to be easy to fulfil, but with persistence she obtained a veterinary nurse training position in a mixed veterinary practice in Warwickshire. She worked there for four years and qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2005. Wanting to follow the gold standards that she was taught at college, Claire applied for a position at Willows and has never looked back since she started working here!

The importance of good training and support whilst studying to become a nurse is a subject very close to Claire's heart, and in 2008 she was offered the chance to become an A1 assessor for Willows, to guide our student veterinary nurses through their study. Claire has found this to be a very rewarding role, and she is very proud of her students and what a great asset they are to the practice.

On moving into the Willows fantastic new premises in 2009, Claire was promoted to Assistant Nurse Manager (non-surgical). Claire is very dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of care for all our patients and looks forward to seeing their happy little faces when she comes into work first thing every morning!

Claire is a member of the team of cat advocates at Willows – she understands how important our superb clincial environment and excellent husbandry are for all the patients that visit us, but also recognises how stressful a visit to the vets can be for our feline friends, and that we need to take special measures in caring for them to the highest standards.

In 2010 Claire completed her qualification for the Institute of Leadership and Management. Following this Claire obtained her certificate in anaesthesia and critical care. Claire believes that Willows is definitely a great place to fulfil her dream and pursue a career in veterinary nursing to the highest levels!



Samantha MacDonald

Marketing Manager

Sam joined Willows from the world of Private Healthcare having worked for a number of the UKs largest private Healthcare providers for over ten years in the London, the South East and most recently the Midlands.

It had always been Sam’s childhood dream to become a vet, having grown up watching every episode of ‘Animal Hospital’, she even spent a short stint experiencing life within a veterinary practice as part of high school work experience. However, the creative aspect of marketing called leading Sam on to roles within Private Healthcare and most recently Veterinary Medicine across which there are increasing similarities.

Having previously been the proud owner of a rather hairy Bearded Collie named Chloe, Sam would love to get another dog in the near future. For the meantime she fulfils her longing for puppy cuddles by offering up her pup sitting skills to help her Dad who breeds honey Labradors.


David Hindley


Facilities Manager

David has worked at Willows Veterinary Centre and Referral Service since 2002, initially joining us as an animal care assistant obtaining valuable experience working alongside general practice clinicians and specialist vets in a progressive small animal practice.  Going from strength to strength, his level of commitment to the practice, his colleagues and, most importantly, the patients in his care, David was promoted to Animal Care Manager in 2007.

As the practice has grown and the facilities within have developed, David realised his skills and knowledge would be well suited to a facilities role and he became Facilities Manager in December 2016. David is IWFM and IOSH qualified and is working towards his Nebosh qualification.

David has a busy home life shared with his wife and young son, two dogs, two rabbits, two birds, a cat and finally a horse! When he does have a rare moment to spare, he will sneak in a game of football or rugby!


Sally-Anne Jones


Administration Manager

Sally joined the Willows in 2008 initially looking after accounts and administration. As Willows moved into new premises and grew significantly, Sally took on the challenging role of Administration Manger.

Sally adopted Peppa a black Labrador Retriever from Guide Dogs for the Blind. Peppa needed specialist surgery for a congenital defect which prevented her being eligible for guide dog training. Peppa is joined at home by Jonesy a Jack Russell cross Pomeranian who’s as cute as a button but devilishly naughty and four mini lop Rabbits, one of whom regularly models for Willows' advertising material! You can spot him on the waiting rooms screens in reception!
