Congratulations to our Deputy Head Nurse Tom!

16 December 2018

We have some fantastic news to share with you all - our deputy head nurse Tom Reilly has recently passed his advanced nursing diploma. Since qualifying as a registered veterinary nurse, Tom has continued to further his education, gaining his veterinary nursing certificate in Emergency and Critical Care in 2013, completing his qualification from the Institute of Leadership and Management in 2014 and now, most recently, achieving his advanced veterinary nursing diploma.

Congratulations to our Deputy Head Nurse Tom!

Tom’s dedication to the profession excelled in 2014 when he joined his local British Small Animal Veterinary Association regional committee and has organised lectures and courses for veterinary nurses in the local area on an array of topics ever since. Since 2015, Tom has been a member of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association Congress committee, assisting with organising Congress and (just as importantly), the social events.

In 2017 Tom had the privilege of being nominated and voted onto the British Veterinary Nursing Association council and looks forward to serving on the council for the next 3 years.

Congratulations to our Deputy Head Nurse Tom!

Tom said: “I have completed my CertVNECC (Veterinary nursing certificate in Emergency and Critical Care) and the RCVS DipAVN (Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing). I chose to undertake my certificate in Emergency and Critical Care as I have a keen interested in that area and the course content closely matched the type of emergencies that present at a multi-disciplinary referral hospital like Willows. I chose to study for the RCVS Dip AVN as it provides a strong theoretical and clinical perspective into advanced veterinary nursing and also helps to understand evidence-based veterinary nursing at a high level, ensuring our patients receive the very best nursing care during their stay with us at Willows”.
