Vicky is victorious!

14 October 2015

Congratulations Vicky on achieving your American qualification of Veterinary Technician Specialist in Internal Medicine.

Vicky, one of Willows’ registered nurses, has recently become one of only two nurses in the UK to gain the specialist qualification in Internal Medicine from the Academy of Internal Medicine for Veterinary Technicians (AIMVT). This recognises superior knowledge in the care and management of patients within the speciality of Internal Medicine.

To meet the criteria, Vicky submitted the required 75 case studies, 4 in-depth case logs and completed over 40 hours of continued professional education in the Internal Medicine field, before travelling to Indianapolis to sit the examination.

Vicky says “I am over the moon with my achievement and could not have managed it without the support of the Internal Medicine team and my family. It just goes to show an old dog can be taught new tricks! I am looking forward to the next challenge.

As a valued member of the medicine nurse team, Vicky works alongside the Internal Medicine and Oncology Specialists to provide the highest standards of patient care in the Intensive Care Unit and wards. She also routinely assists in the Ultrasound Department and Lab.

We are delighted that Vicky’s hard work and dedication has been recognised in this way. Well done Vicky!
