A birthday treat!!

15 January 2016

Here at Willows we recently had two VIP guests! Young Grace has a passion for animals, (having two cats at home), and her ultimate dream is to become a vet. As she was approaching her 10th Birthday, Grace’s Mum got in touch with us to see if she could come and visit to see what goes on behind the scenes in the veterinary world.

The team at Willows were very happy to welcome Grace, her younger sister Erin and her mum Theresa to celebrate her special day. Even on birthdays, a strict dress code applies in our clinical areas, so Grace and Erin donned surgical attire for their tour!

Sarah Morgans, one of Willows’ large team of registered nurses, greeted our VIPs and gave them a guided tour of the practice and introduced them to several members of the team. Grace and Erin met Andrew Parry and Andrew Tanner, (Radiologist and Radiographer), who showed them the specialist imaging equipment that we have on site, including the MRI and CT scanners. Heidi Featherstone, (Ophthalmic Specialist), wished Grace a very happy birthday and invited her to watch a cataract surgery through the viewing window, and Chris Shales, (Specialist Soft Tissue surgeon) also met with the girls, however they were more excited to meet his dog Hettie! Hettie is a lovely, friendly Labrador and did a very good job of welcoming Grace and Erin to Willows!

Of course no birthday would be complete without a card, presents and a cake! Grace’s favourite TV show is Supervet, and so we had a card signed by Noel Fitzpatrick, which was presented to Grace alongside a birthday cake and goody bag of gifts from us all here at Willows!

Grace’s mum contacted us after the event to tell us how much they had all enjoyed their visit.

“What a wonderful experience we all had at Willows! The staff are all so welcoming, everyone we came across took the time to talk to us and to wish Grace a happy 10th birthday. A big thanks especially to Andrew Tanner, Andrew Parry, Heidi, Hettie the dog and her owner Chris. We loved meeting the animals, especially the lovely dogs. The vet nurse, Sarah Morgans, who showed us around was great, so friendly and answered all of our questions (there were a lot!). The gifts you gave the girls were so kind and it was so thoughtful of you, Grace particularly liked the autograph from Noel Fitzpatrick (aka The Supervet) as he's her idol. Thank you, the time we had at Willows was so special, you never know one day Grace & Erin may work at Willows!”
