Triple Diploma Success for Willows

7 March 2018

Willows is celebrating a hat-trick of successes!

Soft tissue surgeon Julia Riggs and radiologists Luis Mesquita and Anne Staudacher have all become diplomates in their fields, adding to our expanding number of Specialists.

Triple Diploma Success for Willows

Julia has attained the coveted European Specialist status in her field. She focuses on all aspects of small animal surgery, particularly surgical oncology, wound management/reconstructive surgery, and upper airway surgery. Her research has covered topics including oral malignancies in dogs, skin grafts in dogs and cats, and the diagnosis and clinical grading of brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome in dogs.

Luis and Anne have both earned the prestigious status of European Specialists in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging. Luis and Anne both joined Willows last year as they prepared for their final exams and are now thrilled to have succeeded.

Luis graduated from the University of Porto in Portugal and went on to become a lecturer at Liverpool University, before joining Willows in February 2017.

Anne, whose research has centred on neuroimaging and MRI-guided stereotactic surgery, has achieved a lifetime’s ambition in gaining her Diploma. She’s now keen to focus her skills on MRI and interventional radiography.

Toby Gemmill, clinical director at Willows, said: “We are delighted for Julia, Luis and Anne and congratulate them on their success."

“It further illustrates our absolute commitment to deliver excellent clinical care to all of our patients. We are continually growing the services we offer to clients and patients and with such fantastic news, it only adds to the expertise which we pride ourselves on.”
