Toby back to top condition!
29 October 2017
Back in September Toby, a lovely Border Terrier, was referred to us as he had become very ill suddenly. Toby’s owners had become concerned as he was feeling very lethargic, had suffered from vomiting and diarrhoea and had stopped eating. He was seen by his own vets who discovered some worrying abnormalities on his blood tests which, alongside his signs of illness, caused Toby to be referred to the medicine team at Willows.
Fergus Allerton, a medicine Specialist, first saw Toby and advised further tests were required to find out what was causing Toby’s unpleasant symptoms. Advanced ultrasound imaging by our Specialist imaging team confirmed Fergus’ suspicion that Toby had a biliary obstruction which was caused by an abnormal gall bladder.
Toby was taken to theatre that same day and soft tissue Specialist Chris Shales performed the urgent surgery to remove his gall bladder and flush his biliary system. Chris described the procedure as challenging but ultimately successful in its aim to re-establish flow of bile.
Toby was a little star during his short stay with us. We are delighted to report that he has recovered very well from his surgery and is back to feeling on top form!
