Small Animal Internship - March 2019
Applications are invited for individuals to enter our structured one year rotating Internship programme. We currently have a team of eight rotating Interns in total.
Willows is one of the leading multi-disciplinary specialist referral practices in the UK. Our Interns enter a training programme during which they assist in the throughput of our orthopaedic, spinal, ophthalmic, neurological, medical, oncological, cardiology, dermatology and soft tissue patients, as well as helping with their ongoing management and care. There are also rotations in our anaesthesia and imaging departments. Additional Intern responsibilities include provision of care to critical patients under the supervision of an ECC clinician, assisting the on-duty nursing staff with out-of-hours night and weekend duties, and provision of an emergency service for primary clinic patients. Willows has a well-developed system of structured teaching for Interns, and a large proportion of our former Interns have gone to undertake Residency training programs in their chosen specialties.
Applicants should be hard working, eager to learn and have excellent communication skills – a very good command of spoken and written English is essential. Candidates should have had at least two years’ post-graduation experience of working in small animal practice, preferably in the UK, and be keen to fit into a friendly work environment which is dedicated to the provision of the highest level of care for our patients and our clients, whether they be pet owners or referring veterinary surgeons.
We offer a competitive salary and the package also includes in-house training, time off and a generous allowance for CPD, a company pension scheme and access to an Employee Assistance Programme. Willows has a strong ethos of looking after staff members, and staff members looking after one another. We hold the Investors in People award at the extended Silver level.
Closing date for applications: Thursday 8th November 2018
Interviews will be held on: Thursday 15th November 2018
