Soft Tissue Service now available at Willows
1 September 2009
Willows Referral Service has been joined by two specialist surgeons, Rob White and Chris Shales. The new state of the art facilities and specialist clinicians in all major disciplines means that the soft tissue service is able to offer a multi-disciplinary approach, cutting edge techniques and levels of service befitting Willows’ commitment to excellence in patient and client care.
Urinary Incontinence
The CT scanner with in-room fluoroscopy capability combined with cystoscopy provide a level of diagnostic capability not widely available to specialist surgeons. These images compliment the ultrasound examination performed by an RCVS recognised specialist in imaging to facilitate an extremely thorough diagnostic work up. The gold-standard investigation available at Willows allows the surgeon to discuss the treatment options with the client prior to selection from a number of techniques currently offered by the soft tissue team:
- Minimally invasive transurethral endoscopic collagen injections
- Urethropexy
- Colposuspension
Cardiorespiratory
Willows Referral Service is able to offer a comprehensive range of cardiorespiratory procedures including:
- Unilateral arytenoid lateralisation (tieback) for laryngeal paralysis
- Brachycephalic obstructive airway surgery (stenotic nares, overlong soft palate, everted laryngeal saccules)
- Intercostal and median sternotomy thoracic procedures
- Lung lobectomy
- Pericardiectomy
- Thoracic duct ligation
- Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) ligation
- Vascular ring anomaly surgery
Hepatobiliary
In Rob White, Willows has gained one of the most experienced hepatobiliary surgeons in the country, and the team is able to offer a high level of expertise in this area:
- Intrahepatic and extrahepatic shunt ligation / attenuation
- Liver lobectomy
- Cholecystectomy
Oncology
Our advanced CT and fluoroscopy suite facilities allow us to perform detailed three-dimensional reconstructive contrast imaging of the vascular anatomy of tumours, enabling meticulous planning for challenging tumour resection procedures. This capability improves our ability to minimise the risk associated with the procedure, select suitable reconstructive techniques following the removal of the mass and assess the likely prognosis following surgery. The imaging facilities, surgical experience and medical and critical care support available at Willows Referral Service enable us to provide the highest levels of care to our oncological patients and their owners.
