Tenacres pupils meet vet nurse Jenny

2 February 2012

Willows Veterinary Nurse, Jenny Jones, found herself back at school recently. Jenny talked to two first year classes from Tenacres First School about how to care for their animals, as well as explaining how important the role of a Veterinary Nurse is. Jenny gave a brief presentation, which included lots of pictures of our patients during their stay at Willows. Two volunteers from each class then dressed up in operating theatre scrub tops and surgical hats. As you can see, they thoroughly enjoyed their ‘cat walk’, showcasing the latest in theatre attire! After many giggles, the children asked lots of questions, after which it was time for assembly and for Jenny to leave for work.

Jenny is the second visitor to Tenacres from Willows – Laura Shaw, one of our General Practice vets, visited the children in 2010. The team at Willows take the promotion of responsible pet ownership very seriously. Meeting with people, especially children, and discussing the joys and responsibilities of pet ownership is just one of the ways we promote the care and welfare of pets in our community.
